Named for Elihu Anthony, an 1847 pioneer. A Methodist minister, hardware merchant, 1st Santa Cruz postmaster, 1st County Treasurer, builder of the first wharf in Santa Cruz, 1st chairman of SCC Board of Supervisors and member of State Assembly in 1880.
