Description

The Advent Wreath plays a prominent role during the liturgical season leading up to Christmas. Each week during the Advent season, a candle is lit on the wreath in our churches to anticipate the second coming of Jesus Christ. Three of the candles are violet in color, which emphasizes the penitential nature of the season. The fourth candle is a rose and is lit on the Third Sunday of Advent, Gaudete Sunday (representing Joy). Each week, we invite a new family/household to light the candle(s) on the Advent Wreath starting on Sunday, November 27th.
