Topic: Long Beach Municipal Urban Stormwater Treatment Project – Diversion and Advanced Treatment of Urban Runoff for Compliance and Water Supply Augmentation Speaker: Ed Othmer, PE, CPESC, CPSWQ, QSP/D ToR, QISP ToR, ENV SP, PMP, Vice President, North America Wet Weather Sector Leader, Stantec Mr. Othmer is Vice President and Stantec’s North America Wet Weather Sector Leader and has more than 30 years of engineering experience as a stormwater practitioner. Ed is a registered civil engineer in California and maintains a variety of other certifications. Ed received his Master’s in Civil Engineering from Tufts University. Colin Averill, PE, ASCE LA Section Vice President Technical Groups, Civil Engineer, City of Long Beach Public Works Engineering Bureau Mr. Averill is the LB-MUST Project Manager for Long Beach Public Works. His breadth of experience over the past decade includes infrastructure, water resources, and coastal engineering projects. For the last three years, he has managed the final design and construction phase of the LB-MUST Project. Synopsis: The Long Beach Municipal Urban Stormwater Treatment (LB-MUST) Project is an ambitious, comprehensive, and innovative project to intercept and treat dry weather runoff and a percentage of the first-flush storm flows generated within the City of Long Beach. This will improve the water quality of the Los Angeles River and Estuary. LB-MUST is a state-of-the-art regional facility to treat dry weather and wet weather flow to a level where the water can be used as an alternative water supply.
