Description
Are you a WWII history buff? Thought about being a WWII reenactor? Have you ever wanted to experience being part of a World War II infantry squad? Now's your chance. Museum of 20th Century Warfare at Fort Harrison State Park is offering that opportunity to a limited number of those interested in this experience. Those participating in this event will be embedded with a squad of German WWII reenactors who will move from an assembly area through the wooded, hilly areas of Ft. Harrison State Park. Participants will be paired with a reenactor in the squad and spend about an hour moving up to reinforce a front line position expecting an attack. We are limiting the number of participants to 10 (must be pre-registered) to keep it manageable. There will be 14 tickets available. The last 4 to register will be alternates to fill in if any of the first 10 cancel. We will be in contact via email with those registered and alternates will be notified the day before (or as soon as we know of a cancellation) if they are willing to fill in. We will try to outfit participants with helmets and if possible, great coats or other cold weather coats or jackets. Participants must be capable of hiking wooded, hilly trails and climbing a steep slope in cold weather. We are limiting to this activity to age 14 and above (those 14 to 18 must be accompanied by an adult-not dropped off). Participants should dress in black, dark brown or gray clothing (no post WWII uniforms are allowed). Black or dark brown boots (broken in) of any era is OK. 1000 - Assemble in Building 702 (Camp Glenn area) to fit uniforms and pick up equipment 1100-March column leaves bldg 702. 1145-March column arrives at North Bunker (infield mess) 1215-Defense against attack 1230-Withdraw from the area. There is no cost for this activity, however normal Indiana state park gate fees do apply.
