PICK UP Football For Her is a safe and inclusive space to come and at minimum play pick-up soccer for those who identify as female or non-binary aged 8-18 from 7-9PM at Lab Five in Pacoima. We will incorprate interactive, informative, or inspiring sessions with professional players or resources needed by sport. Each week we will post the link to register and inform you if we will be including a special guest or not. In November we will be starting a "FUNDAMENTALS" session from 6-6:45PM for beginners that will be taught by coach Steph. There is a seperate registration for our Fundamentals session we will offer. Please sign up prior to coming on Friday in order to participate! Pick up-7-8:20 Mental Skills Session on Mental Toughness- 8:20-9pm Dr. Sonali Wason's Bio (right): Dr. Sonali Wason is a licensed clinical and sport psychologist and co-founder of Advantage Psychology and Mental Performance Center. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, New York (2013) and graduated from Azusa Pacific University with her doctorate in Clinical Psychology (2018). Dr. Wason completed her doctoral internship training at The University of Oklahoma, where she began specializing in trauma treatment, sport psychology, and focusing on clinical intervention for the college/graduate student and student-athlete client population. She then completed a post-doctoral fellowship at California Lutheran University specializing in college/graduate student mental health and trauma work and a second post-doctoral fellowship with University of Southern California Athletics specializing in sport psychology and athlete mental health. Dr. Wason works with with high-school, collegiate and professional athletes in areas related to mental performance, performance anxiety, team/coach consultation, and improving team culture. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in multicultural humility, sociopolitical awareness, and evidence-based practices. Her clinical and research interests include: trauma recovery, family-of-origin concerns, sport psychology, athletic identity, recovering from an athletic injury, performance enhancement, creating healthy team dynamics, transition out of sport, and providing therapeutic services to people of color. Dr. Taylor Sorenson's Bio (left): Dr. Taylor Sorenson is a Clinical & Sport Psychologist and is the founder of both Advantage Psychology and Mental Performance Center & L.A. Psychological Assessment. She received her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from California Lutheran University and completed her doctoral internship at the University of Oklahoma. While at the University of Oklahoma she received training in their athletic department’s, Psychological Resources for OU Student-Athletes. She completed her post-doctoral training at a private practice in Norman, Oklahoma, under the supervision of Dr. Cody Commander. Within a year she became the Clinic Director of the practice where she oversaw the site's doctoral interns through the internship training program (Oklahoma Sport Psychology Consortium), worked with individual sport and performance clients and managed the psychological assessment side of the practice. She is proud and excited to bring her skills in and passion for psychological assessment and sport and performance psychology back home to Los Angeles. Her areas of clinical focus include psychological testing, sport psychology, performance psychology, anxiety disorders, ADHD and learning disorders, and mood disorders. She has experience working with athletes ranging in age and ability level from elementary school athletes to elite level athletes.
