IT'S ON! Jim Franz & Jan Nichols-Franz Farewell Fundraiser for FAAS

Hi everyone! Jim Franz and Jan Nichols-Franz left Alameda in February and moved to Portland to be with family. Fortunately, they promised to return in warmer weather to say a proper goodbye to the hundreds of friends they have made over the years through their beautiful music and outstanding public service. We had to postpone the summer date we had originally planned for this party due to all sorts of reasons, including COVID. But we're back in the saddle and mean to get the job done right this time! You are invited to join in the fun as we finally treat this wonderful couple to the send-off they deserve. In lieu of gifts, Jan and Jim respectfully request that friends make a donation to one of their favorite Alameda nonprofits, Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter (FAAS). FAAS cares for 800+ lost and abandoned Alameda pets that come through its doors each year. Jim and Jan adopted their pug Herbie from FAAS as a companion for their 15-year-old chug, Louie. And both Jan and Jim were FAAS volunteers, with Jim eventually hiring on as manager of the FAAS South Shore Adoption Center where he oversaw cat and rabbit adoptions. To accept donations made in their honor, FAAS has set up the Jim Franz and Jan Nichols-Franz Fund. Contributions will help underwrite shelter upgrades, including an enhanced play yard for dogs. In addition, to celebrate Jan and Jim's legacy of caring and compassion, and to honor all they have given to Alameda, FAAS will install a concrete bench engraved with the following: "In Honor of Jan Nichols-Franz and Jim FranzHeroes to All Alameda Creatures Great and Small"Let's get all the dope on what Jan and Jim have been up to since moving, and finally give them a proper send-off to their new town!!
