Having an outlet to explore the body and calm the mind is now an essential part of her life. The yogic relationship between the body, the mind, and the breath — and how that manifests and helps bring a sense of peace — is what keeps her showing up on the mat. A strong but steady flow that gets the breath and the blood moving, while focusing the mind! Lisa has taken different yoga classes on and off over the years, but found Loretta Jo at Yoga-Mojo in 2014 and became a regular attendee. Practicing yoga on a regular basis became an oasis for her to tune out external stimuli and simply focus on what was happening in the moment, in the body. The practice has helped her to become more flexible and grow stronger, both on and off the mat. Lisa graduated from Yoga-Mojo’s teacher training in 2019. She has also studied yoga anatomy with David Keil and yoga sequencing with Jason Crandall. She will forever be a student of yoga, and is grateful for the wisdom shared by her teachers. Her goal in teaching yoga is to keep a light-hearted attitude toward playfulness in poses — to keep you not only strong and flexible, but moving with grace. She aims to design her classes with a focus on movements that are key to keeping us all physically young. Lisa’s favorite poses are balance poses, as one really has to focus! Lisa most often teaches a Vinyasa level 1-2 class. Her classes will start with a few moments of meditation, some warmup to awaken the body, then move into an energizing flow. Classes will conclude with balance poses, some lovely stretches, and finally Savasana. If you like a strong class with a little physical challenge, her classes are for you. Lisa’s approach to yoga is focused on the balance between strength and flexibility, between effort and ease. Her classes combine both strength and mobility work in a dynamic, Vinyasa flow style. Expect to move, sweat, and breathe. Cary Yoga Collective offers a five-star rated Yoga Alliance registered RYS200 yoga teacher training program and RYS300/500 program beginning Fall 2022.
