Description

Latina Equal Pay Day is when we recognize the wage gap that Latina women face in the United States. This year Latina Equal Pay is on December 8th; however, our event is on November 30th at 6 p.m. More than 50 years after the passage of the Equal Pay Act of 1963, Latinas working year-round earn .57 cents for every dollar earned by their white male counterparts. To address Latina Equal Pay Day, we along with UTC's Center for Women and Gender Equity and the Office of Multicultural Affairs, are teaming up with experts across different industries to provide a conversation about the wage gap of all women but focus on the Latina wage gap and data and how we can bring awareness to companies and employees, especially first-generation Latina students entering corporate. The fireside conversation will begin at 6:00 p.m. This event is free and a light dinner will be provided. The first five people will receive a gift (to claim your gift, you must stay until the end of the event).
