About First North Carolina FIRST North Carolina is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization based in North Carolina and the Program Delivery Organization for the FIRST LEGO League Discover, FIRST LEGO League Explore, and the FIRST Robotics Competition programs in North Carolina. OUR MISSION The mission of FIRST North Carolina is to inspire the next generation of engineers, computer scientists and STEM leaders. Our goal is to strengthen the school to STEM career connection by implementing the FIRST progression of programs in every school and school district, PreK through grade 12. FIRST North Carolina wants students to thrive in a high tech world with an unbridled passion for skilled trades, engineering, computer science, and corporate problem-solving. FIRST's hands-on approach enables students to "test drive" these areas to see where their interests and aptitudes fit. OUR VISION “To transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology leaders.” ~Dean Kamen, Founder About Cyber Bears The Cyber Bears is a competition team comprised of high school students from different schools organized to participate in the FIRST® Robotics Competition. This competition combines the excitement of sports with the rigors of science and technology. High school students use sophisticated technology to build and program industrial-size robots for a challenging field game. MISSION The mission of the Cyber Bears (FIRST robotics competition code 8804) is to foster competence and enthusiasm for self learning and growth for high school students where they recognize that anything is possible. We proudly join FIRST in such endeavors. VISION Cyber Bears’ vision is to create a fun learning environment focused on robotics. Our vision is to inspire and expose the world of robotics to all communities. STEM skills, hands-on learning, critical thinking and teamwork are some of our core values that we use to achieve our outcomes. We believe the STEM pipeline can be enriched with intentional experiences to enhance future outcomes.
