Marianne Set in the context of France's laïcité, (France's version of secularism), Marianne follows seven French Muslim women from all walks of life reclaiming their narrative away from the stereotypes and one-brush strokes they have to contend with from French media and politicians. Beyond France though, their experience echos the experience of Muslim women across the world, pushing the viewer to question their own assumptions on liberty, feminism and Western identity. Marianne recently won the best international film award at the Imagine This Women's Film Festival in New York.
