Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival inspires students to think critically, to explore the richness and beauty of mathematics through collaborative, creative problem-solving.The Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival was first held in Columbus in 2014. The festival has grown each year and has since been host to over 2,000 students!
Grades: 5th - 10th
Location: Ohio Union Great Hall Meeting Room at The Ohio State University
Admission: $10 per student (accompanying adults attend for free). Fee waivers are available (see below).
How it works:
During the festival, students can join any table and work collaboratively with the volunteers and students there on a fun, engaging, rich math problem. Volunteers include math professors, grad students, and math teachers. Students are welcome to try out several problems until they find one that particularly interests them; once they do, they are encouraged to spend 30 – 45 minutes or more on that activity. Students will be able to take home activities that they have spent time on.
We provide the mathematics and mathematicians to work with the students on the activities.
Fee Waiver: If the $10 fee is a financial hardship, you may choose the "Fee Waiver" ticket type and register for free.
NOTE: This is a non-profit event. All fees are used to defray the costs of hosting the event.
Special thanks to InSTEAMERs - OSU for sponsoring the event.
