The second annual Chapel Hill Black Film Festival will take place February 10th through 11th, 2023. This year we are honored to host a two day event with genre bending film experiences and one of a kind panels with filmmakers and experts. We will celebrate our culture and continue to champion the legacy of black stories and storytellers.
The Lineup:
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 10TH - Opening Night:
Down with the King (narrative): A famous rapper, disillusioned with the music industry and the pressures of being a celebrity, leaves the city and his career behind to find himself in a small-town farming community. Followed by Chapel Hill Hip-Hop (Panel Discussion)
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 11TH - Day Two Events and Panel
The Big Payback (documentary): An inspiring look at Alderman Robin Rue Simmons' fight to redress the wrongs of "redlining" and the legacy of slavery through a groundbreaking reparations program in Evanston, Illinois. Followed by a star studded panel about reparations moderated by Chris Everett
