Please Note: There are 2 afternoon sessions. You will need to choose which training you would like to attend. Morning Session: Renfrew Center will be presenting on eating disorders and body image. The Renfrew Center is the leading expert in Eating Disorder Treatment. The Renfrew Center’s evidence-based treatment model emphasizes respect for the unique psychology of women, the importance of a collaborative therapeutic relationship and the belief that every patient needs to actively participate in their own growth and recovery. Since 1985, more than 85,000 adolescent girls, women, transgender, and non-binary individuals have been empowered to move toward recovery at Renfrew. Learning Objectives Overview of Eating DisordersThe Correlation of Trauma and Eating Disorders Marginalized groups and comorbidities that often travel with eating disorders. Learning Objectives-The objective of the body image workshop is to have a facilitated and open discussion regarding these 4 questions: Define Body Image and what we perceive as “the standard” What have we engaged in to be considered “standard?” Is there a way I can challenge the “standard?” Practical ways I can resist and speak more positively about my body? Afternoon Session: Choice 1-Persad Center will be presenting a newly developed training on Gender Diversity. Gender Diversity 201 With Persad Center’s “LGBTQ+ 101” as a foundation, our “Gender Diversity 201” training focusses in on the experiences and needs of the Gender Diversity Community; transgender, non-binary, gender non-conforming, gender fluid, etc. This training examines some of the health, social and legal disparities facing the gender diverse with a discussion of vocabulary, definitions and pronouns. We look at how living within a context of discrimination and exposure to systemic aggression and micro-aggressions can lead to internalization and unhealthy behaviors. The subject of bathroom usage and the gender diverse is covered with a focus on what guidance federal laws and statutes provide. The workshop uses extensive hands-on activities; large and small group exercises, role playing, situational scenarios as well as individual and one-on-one activities designed to help the participant understand what their past experiences with the subject of gender have been and how that is informing their current outlook. The program concludes with group exercises synthesizing all of the training’s elements, giving participants practical examples of what they can do to provide support and advocacy for the gender diverse community. Learning Objectives Participants will learn how Systemic Aggression and Micro-Aggressions can negatively affect the gender diverse.Participants will learn the difference between transgender and non-binary individuals. Participants will learn the federal laws and regulations regarding bathroom use and the gender diverse in employment settings.Afternoon Session: Choice 2-Adelphoi For more than 50 years, Adelphoi been one of Pennsylvania’s leading providers of youth and family services. They serve youth who are at-risk, abused, neglected, delinquent, struggling with academic or behavioral issues. Most of the youth and families have some involvement in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems. Adelphoi has led the way for decades in award winning treatment and programs. Objectives: Learning Objectives Understanding of the definitions of experiencing trauma in childhood and it’s prevalence in our lives.Understanding of the short term and long term implications of trauma as individuals and for our therapeutic communities as we age.Understanding of and be able to demonstrate trauma informed responses in your day to day work with children and youth whether in a group, individual counseling, classroom or other settings.Understanding of how one can behave in a way that reduces re-traumatization.Understand the concepts of vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue vs burnout and the importance of self-care.
