Adopt: I recently inherited my mother's 10+ year old Maine Coon after she passed unexpectedly. He is EXTREMELY affectionate (if he's not in your lap then at least one paw will be touching you).... However; he needs all of your affection for himself. He will not tolerate even the sight of another cat.... It's the strangest behavior I've ever witnessed in a long-time neutered male cat. My mother's wishes were that I keep Bailey.... Unfortunately neither of us knew that would be nearly impossible (I have a severely diabetic, 1-eyed cat that I've bottle-fed since birth and Bailey has attacked him twice..... not having that).
