The Press Brake Operator is responsible for setup and safe operation of the Amanda Press Brake machines to process/produce highest quality products. The ideal candidate develops good working relationships with the supervisor, co- workers and other employees as well as working knowledge of the fabrication environment and has ability to respond to change. We strive to improve the quality of life of our employees by creating a work environment conducive to personal development, success and fulfillment. • Perform all tasks assigned for press brake setup and operation. • Complete all required safety procedures prior to and during operations. • Setup and document tooling and safe practices for press brake operations. • Set stops on machine bed, change die, and adjust components, such as ram or power press, when making multiple or successive passes. • Verify accuracy of machine settings to confirm accurate tolerances and machine functions. • Plan sequence of operations, apply knowledge of physical properties of metal. • Operators will be required to maintain accurate parts and motivation on routine repetitive jobs. • During operations, operator will be required to maintain cleanliness of the machine. • Perform inspection of finished work piece for defects and document results. • Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions/programs to the supervisor. • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follow all prescribed safety procedures. • Effectively and accurately communicate any safety, quality, or fabrication issues to the supervisor in a timely manner. • Complete and maintain paperwork for parts. • Must be able to work independently and meet a planned fabrication schedule. • Responsible for operation, proving programs, operating controls, setting all machine functions, deburring and inspection of parts to assure conformance. • Detects equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine within capabilities. Reports all machine malfunctions to the Supervisor. • Communicate with management, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues. • Communicate all production related items to next shift operators or shift supervisors. • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: • Ability to calculate, blank sizes, bend locations, appropriate tonnage and tooling for each part being formed. • Must be able to work from drawings and sketches, read and understand manuals/specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished products, sequence of operations and set up requirements. • Ability to accurately and completely fill out necessary paperwork according to established standards. • Able to read both metric and standard tape measures, as well as precision hand tools such as squares, protractors, and calipers. • Skilled in organizing work area before and after parts are processed, stacking completed parts properly on blocks or pallet to eliminate double handling and work efficiently. • Able to perform basic math in various units of measure using fractions, decimals, and whole units. • Capability of understanding instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and produce a quality product. • Basic computer navigation skills. • Forklift experience needed. • Capable of work standing for long periods of time. • Bending, lifting and pushing up to 50 pounds is required.
