Bethany Baptist Church is a social justice oriented congregation located in the heart of Newark, NJ. A part of our offering is to provide access to health related services, information and education. Our health ministry with support from Chose Healthy Life and the United Way, have been expanding our reach into different health related issues. We are hosting this prayer breakfast as a way of creating an interfaith response to HIV and AIDS. Black and Brown communities have been disproportionately impacted by HIV and faith leaders have responded in ways that doesn't show the best of who we are; always highlighting HIV as a moral failure. As a way of repairing, this gathering hopes to bring attention to the ways in which every person can do their part in creating an anti-stigma atmosphere for those living with HIV. Additionally, this breakfast ensures that people living with HIV and those close to them are given a voice.
