The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Phoenix Metropolitan Chapter (NCBW Phoenix), a 501(c)3 organization, will host its 7th Annual Legends event, "Forever Bold, Forever Beautiful" – A YULETIDE CELEBRATION, on Saturday, December 10, 2022, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Join us at the luxurious Andaz Scottsdale Resort as we brunch with the New York Times best-selling author, Beverly Johnson, and our local honorees of excellence. As this year's keynote and National Civic Engagement Honoree, Ms. Johnson rose to fame and made history when she became the first Black woman to appear on the cover of American Vogue in 1974, forever changing the beauty ideal in the fashion world. This annual signature fundraiser holds the promise of being infused with an endearing yuletide ambiance of positivity, elegance, and celebration. In keeping with NCBW's mission, our doors are forever open for the advocacy of black women and girls and their challenges in the areas of health, education, economic empowerment, and civic engagement. This is the event that you do not want to miss! Proceeds will benefit our 2022-2023 programming and advocacy efforts. Keynote Speaker and Civic Engagement Legend - Beverly Johnson Beverly Johnson is the Founder, Chairwoman, and Chief Executive Officer of BEVERLY LLC. Beverly’s “Vision” is to build BJE (aka Beverly Johnson Enterprises) into a global brand around The Beverly Johnson Luxurious Lifestyle Brand. Beverly Johnson is an American Supermodel, New York Times Best Selling author, actress, and businesswoman. She rose to fame and made history when she became the first African American woman to appear on the cover of American Vogue in August 1974, forever changing the beauty ideal in the fashion world. Beverly is a part of The Black List: Photographs by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, a photographic assembly of 50 of the most influential African-Americans in America. Her portrait was included in the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC in their 2012 exhibition, along with the other photos from the Greenfield-Sanders collection. Ms. Johnson signed a production deal with Warner Brothers TV to produce her life story, as a Limited Series, based on her memoir, “The Face That Changed It All." Warner Brothers TV has entered into a developing deal with Apple TV+ to develop and produce the Limited-Series for Apple’s new streaming platform. She is also an Executive Producer and is instrumental in every part of this production. Over her career, Ms. Johnson has appeared in major motion and developed her own constructive reality show “Beverly’s Full House,” which aired on the Oprah Winfrey Network (“OWN”). She has made numerous appearances on many television shows, digital media, and Internet platforms. Beverly has appeared on The Tamron Hall Show, The Doctors on CBS, The Morning Show on CBS with Gayle King, Bloomberg, The Wendy Williams Show, Good Day New York, Good Day Los Angeles, CNN, Fox News, The Talk, Tom Joyner Radio Show, Steve Harvey Radio Show, Sirius XM Radio, and more Ms. Johnson is a regular keynote speaker and thought leader for organizations focused on Beauty and Fashion, Women Empowerment, Entrepreneurship, Domestic Violence, Disrupt Aging, Discrimination in the Fashion Industry, Women’s Rights, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Women’s Health Issues, and an AIDS Activist. Beverly Johnson’s remarkable career spans over five decades, and is a showcase of accomplishment: from model to mom to actress, author, activist, businesswoman, TV personality, and—finally—Icon.
