Description
Lititz Chooses Love and Lancaster Pride are coming together to do a candlelight vigil on the sidewalks along route 501. We want to station as many participants as we have through our town holding posters with the names of those we've lost and candles. To accomplish this, we need an exact headcount. Please let us know if you're coming by registering. ## Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) is an annual observance on November 20 that honors the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) was started in 1999 by transgender advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith as a vigil to honor the memory of Rita Hester, a transgender woman who was killed in 1998. The vigil commemorated all the transgender people lost to violence since Rita Hester's death, and began an important tradition that has become the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance. ## About Lititz Chooses Love At Lititz Chooses Love, our goal is as simple as our name. We want to inspire our neighbors to choose love, to understand that an inclusive community is a thriving community, and to provide safe spaces for all who seek a sense of belonging. Our events welcome community members from all walks of life; to listen and learn. Our mission is to create safe social spaces and connect LGBTQ+ community members with life-saving, identity-affirming resources. We are human beings who want nothing more than to be accepted as who we are and who we’ve always been. Choosing Love isn't always easy, but it's always right. We chose our name because we wanted our intentions to be clear. Here, we choose love.
