14 cents a mile is equal to $2.80/gal and getting 20 MPG in a gas powered truck. NOT a huge savings. Here in Minnesota when it's winter an EV loses 40 - 50% of it's range, batteries power is reduced by cold. New gas powered vehicles don't require tuneups or frequent oil changes. What is the price of a EV truck? A Rivian is $120,000 NO WAY you will save enough gas to justify the cost. When a Lithium battery is quick charged it damages the battery and reduces its life span. If you use heat in an EV you lose the battery charge as the electric motors don't generate heat like a gas engine. Lithium batteries burn and explode when exposed to water. The fire is impossible to put out and must be left to burn itself out. Pity those trapped in a wreck with a burning battery. Depending on how an EV is used the battery pack may need to be replaced. A friend has an Audi ETRON and a replacement battery pack costs $27,000. The best way to use a Lithium battery is to run it down to 10% remaining and then slowly fully charge it. Same rules apply to any Lithium battery, laptop, phone, etc.. There are good applications for an EV but buyers beware of the rules of use. People in northern states are used to getting the engine warmed up and enjoying the cabin heat, not the same with an EV.
