Description

Local non-profit organization whose mission statement is to assist the Homeless to transition out of homelessness by covering their basic needs and giving them a reason to look forward to achieving the ultimate goal: Permanent housing. Favela likes to raise awareness and connect with businesses and individuals who would like to get involved and help the homeless. Favela Miami is raising much needed funds to help the homeless in Miami Beach. The event will take place at Gala Miami, who graciously is sponsoring the event and providing drinks and appetizers. Various items will be offered for the Silent Auction, including artworks from Romero Britto, Peter Lik, worldwide LUMAS Galleries' Werner Powlok, design jewelry by Marcella Acosta; among others. In addition, this event will showcase a series of limited edition artwork by Favela’s inaugural Artist-in-Residence Faith Kohler. This colorful and unique body of work, entitled “Somebody’s Someone,” was created to raise awareness about homelessness in Miami Beach. These 8 works in varying sizes will be included in a silent auction to raise funds in support of Favela’s mission. “Somebody’s Someone” is about humanizing those who are marginalized as the artist questions the similarities and differences between “us” and “them.” Faith’s work offers an opportunity to spark community conversations about dignity, public safety and positive social change. All proceeds from the sale of this artwork, as well as other auction items, will help Favela continue providing those it serves with necessities and information about accessing available resources for a variety of supportive services and housing. Can't attend but care to do your part and support our work?
