This workshop will help participants to explore the use of symbols and metaphor by children in play therapy. Participants will examine examples of symbols and the way they are used in symbolic play and metaphor through case examples. Participants will explore the various meanings of different symbols in play, especially in the context of personal and cultural history. Learning Objectives: By the end of this course participants are able to: 1. Describe the use of symbols, symbolic play, and metaphor in play therapy. 2. Discuss how to understand the meaning of symbols used in play therapy. 3. Identify one's own projections onto symbols used in play therapy. Play Therapy Skills and Methods 2 APT Contact CE. APT Approved Provider 01-109 About our presenter: Jennifer Glacel, LCSW, RPT-S™ is the owner and founder of Seven Corners Psychotherapy. An experienced clinician skilled in working with children, teens, and adults, Jennifer is also a supervisor and trainer for other therapists working towards play therapy credentials. Jennifer has a background in Jungian therapy, sand tray therapy, and child centered play therapy. She combines her knowledge and experience to create a safe place in which individuals can not only build coping skills but also do deep inner work to improve their lives overall and feel better day to day.
