Peninsula Business Owner Who Attended Trump Rally Faces Backlash

MENLO PARK, CA — The owner of a popular Peninsula candy store is facing calls for a boycott of her business after a photo of her attending Wednesday's Pro-Trump rally in Washington D.C. circulated on social media according to multiple reports. Suzi Tinsley, who owns Sugar Shack in Menlo Park, told NBC Bay Area she attended the rally in support of President Donald Trump's baseless claims of election fraud as a staunch supporter of the president but she denounced the violence that occurred after the rally. The Menlo Park candy store, Sugar Shack, is facing threats and getting trashed online. So much so, that store had to close early. Tinsley said she expected the rally to be peaceful and that she herself was injured after being pushed to the ground as the rally spun out of control, NBC Bay Area reports. She has also been threatened, ABC7 reports. "Just like every other American, I watched in horror as the chaos unfolded on television," Tinsley said in a statement. "I couldn't believe my eyes and remain appalled at what I saw." A Menlo Park man active in social justice causes is among those calling for a boycott of Tinsley's store, "To participate in an anti-democracy protest that was instigated by the President of the United States, we say no more to that," Henry Shane told NBC Bay Area. "And we will not support your small business for that reason."
