At the time, we told him that bird ownership was a big responsibility and that he and only he would be responsible for feeding and caring for it and that if ever he changed his mind to let us know and we would happily help him to find it a new home. Yesterday, he let us know that bird ownership isn't what he had expected and that he's ready to let him go. The feathers on his wings and back have almost 100% returned though we haven't had as much luck with the ones on his chest. As you can see from the video though, it hasn't affected his ability to fly! When we originally received him, he his wings were clipped, but almost fully grown back in and he loves flying back to his cage when the mood strikes.
