Description

How can compost and soils play a powerful role in reversing global climate change? Join LA Compost + Elysian Valley Community Garden for a tour of our community composting system and a discussion about the principles of soil health for carbon sequestration. We will learn about the garden's recent asphalt removal project, and discuss methods for bioremediation that will help prepare the area to grow food and sequester carbon in the soil. Afterward, we will use the microscope to compare soil samples from different garden areas to see our microorganisms in action! Part of LA Compost's Soil Sessions led by Soil & Compost Specialist Lynn Fang, MS. Reminders to attendees: Dress warmly and comfortably.Part of the workshop will be standing, the other seated. We are gathering in the evening so the projector screen can easily be seen, you may want to bring a headlamp or flashlight with you for after the sun sets.Parking around the garden is street parking only in the residential area, be mindful of street parking restrictions.
