Press release from the Novato Unified School District: January 7, 2021 Happy New Year VLA families! Important information We hope you had some time to connect with your child without the stress of remote learning. Transfers into VLA were completed prior to the winter break and teachers are prepared to support your child. If you are new to VLA-Welcome. If you have any questions or need support, the school site principal and the VLA K-5 principal can be reached by email; Ms.Sesma-Olinyk is the VLA K-5 principal, [email protected]. Here are some suggestions for your child's success. These suggestions come from the VLA teachers. We know that you are an amazing parent partner in your child's academic success. We know this is an extremely difficult job for you, on top of everything else, and we really appreciate the support. Here are some suggestions for academic success. Don't worry if your child struggles in a zoom session to answer a question or if he needs to redo the work. Let your child take a test without help. The teacher has their best interests and will support them.Learning and growth come from making mistakes and trying again.Help your child log in if necessaryHave your supplies ready for the dayCreate a schedule for your child and provide him or her with a place to workAfter completing assignments, you can refer to classroom or Google seesaw to see your workProvide time in your daily schedule for independent or asynchronous work.Thank you for your support and contact the teacher if you have any questions or need support. Upcoming Events The Galileo District Mid-Year Assessment for English Language Arts (ELA) and Math will take place during the month of January. The first two weeks of January (1 / 4-1 / 14) will be ELA, the next two weeks (1 / 19-1 / 29) will be math. The Galileo assesses grade level content at the end of the year. It is important for your child to complete this without any support as it is important information on how your child is meeting grade level expectations.
