Hey! We are Supercat. We are a cover band from central Maine. We need a lead singer and a bass player and we hope to get some responses from awesome people! We practice in Vassalboro on Saturday afternoons as needed to have songs prepared for shows. We foresee practicing often this winter to get new band members up to speed but we practice much less when we’re playing gigs. We try to play a mix of stuff that people can dance to, featuring artists like Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, The Grateful Dead, Hall and Oates, Sublime, Amy Winehouse, and The Black Pumas. We have shows booked for 2023 from Harrison, to South Bristol, to Bangor, so a willingness to travel that much is required. There are venues in those areas that like us and invite us back, but also some previous band members lived in those areas; there can be discussion about the range of future bookings depending on where you live. We all have jobs and families but are committed to seeing our band succeed. With that in mind, we aim to play two or three shows a month. If an offer comes in on short notice, we all consider if it fits our schedules and there’s no ill will if we have to pass on it. We don’t get rich playing out but we do take it seriously, so we are looking for someone committed and reliable with a professional attitude towards performing. We all have the professional equipment to play bar/dance-hall sized gigs. So potential singers should own their preferred mic/monitor/etc and know how to help set things up to get a great sound from the PA. Bass players should, you know, have a bass. And an amp. For our future bass player: if you can play the right notes along with our guitarist and stay in time with our drummer we’ll be happy. We won’t complain if you want to spice things up and rip off some sweet solos, though. Our previous singer was female and there are probably a few songs we do that would sound a little confusing sung by a dude, but we are totally open to either a male or female singer. We just want someone who can sing in time, sing in key, and engage the crowd. We have some songs that work really well for our shows, but we’ll also welcome your input if you have some fun tracks that you enjoy performing. If you’ve made it this far, thanks! All of this is really important to us and we want to find someone who agrees with our vision. But we also want to make friends. We all get along and have fun at shows. We don’t like drama and we aren’t hypercritical. Sometimes we disagree but we work through things.
