AARP Foundation Tax-Aide provides free personal income tax return preparation services to low- and moderate-income taxpayers, with special attention to those age 50 and older. Tax-Aide volunteers are needed here in La Crosse for the coming tax season. Training is free and will be starting soon. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is looking for volunteer Counselors. A counselor provides tax preparation services directly to taxpayers. Responsibilities include: • Preparing federal and state tax returns at the assigned tax assistance site. • Adheres to program policies and procedures. • Adheres to site schedules and guidelines. • Promotes and supports the program through word-of-mouth and wears an AARP Foundation Tax-Aide name badge while serving at a site. • Records assistance given and Quality Reviews completed as directed by the Local Coordinator. If you have previous experience in tax preparation using tax software either for yourself or professionally and are looking for a fulfilling volunteer position this could be a great fit for you.
