Matt Ruder will feature an original guitar solo, sing two duets with Tricia, as well as accompany Tricia throughout the program. What inspired this program? In March, Tricia listened to Brandi Carlile’s autobiography, “Broken Horses”. "I was captivated hearing this six-time Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter share her perspective on the brutal, convoluted, joyful, and invigorating world of singing... at one point in the book, Brandi discussed her influential friendship with Joni Mitchell and how she, Brandi, learned and performed all of Joni’s “Blue” album songs in their original keys. As she talked about this challenge and how she grew into the music, I thought… I’d like to sing some Joni Mitchell. An easy sentence to conjure, but no small feat to complete. I was stepping on fertile ground for musical growth and creative expression. This house concert gives me the opportunity to share these beautiful songs, rich lyrics and in following with the "Blue" theme ... some beloved Jazz songs as well. I hope you can join us! " A little about Tricia: An award-winning singer, Tricia has been singing and performing professionally throughout the USA and Europe for over 35 years. She has her Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the Manhattan School of Music and has played starring roles in operas and musical theater productions, as well as a guest soloist with orchestras and bands. She continues to share her love for song as both a private voice instructor and performer. A little about Matt: Matt grew up in Allen, Texas. He picked up a guitar at age 13 and decided to devote his life to it, studying with a fantastic teacher in high school and playing in local bands around Dallas. He moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2012 to pursue a degree in Contemporary Music from the Santa Fe University of Art and Design, which he received in 2015. He studied under Dweezil Zappa and has supported acts such as Living Colour, Stu Hamm Rock Experience, and Ozomatli, as well as going on tours with bands such as Dance Gavin Dance and Hail The Sun. He currently resides in Colorado Springs, and performs regularly in a number of bands in addition to composing music for film.
