Who we are: As students in the Veteran Community Leadership Course, we have created a project to help veterans in Harrisonburg & Rockingham County connect. We are veterans and veteran affiliates who have the drive to develop more programs in our community that help us connect in the civilian world. About the Inaugural Boots + Grinds event: We developed Boots + Grinds as a low-barrier way to meet other veterans in our community. This event is something we have not seen offered in our area and we wanted to take advantage of our location and the resources around us. On November 19th, come to Grace + Main Coffee shop near downtown Harrisonburg for coffee and a meet & greet with fellow Veterans. From there, we will shuttle all participants to Hightop Summit on Skyline Drive for a hike. Our first event will be for veterans ONLY. We hope to have more events in the future for veterans and families! __________ The Details: 7:30-8:00 am: Arrive at Grace + Main Coffee Shop where we will greet you! 7:30-8:30 am: Coffee Time 8:45 am: Van Leaves for the Hike 9:30-11:30 am: Hiking at Hightop Summit 11:45 am: Van heads back to Grace + Main Coffee Shop 12:30 pm: Ending Time We will provide the following for all registered participants: Coffee at Grace + MainHealthy SnacksWater for HikeTransportation to and from the HikeBoots + Grinds T-ShirtParking Validation at the parking garage*__________ Directions *Hotel Madison has on-site garage parking (Mason Street Parking Deck) for cars and average-sized vehicles. When you enter (Martin Luther King Way Entrance) you will get a ticket. You can go to the front desk of Hotel Madison and get the ticket validated. Skyline Drive – Hightop Summit: At mile 66.7 on Skyline Drive, Hightop Summit is a 33-minute drive from Grace + Main Coffee Shop.
