Join Ranger Will and VIP Alicia Roberts for an educational history hike at Solstice Canyon.
This 2-mile roundtrip hike will cover the history of Solstice Canyon dating back to before the 1800s. Included in this history talk will be information of the indigenous people who first lived there, the Rancho period, the Keller family, Paul Revere Williams, and the Roberts family.
Once we arrive at the Roberts house, visitors will have the option to continue onto the Rising Sun trail (1.5 miles) or to return on the Solstice Canyon trail (1 mile back). The rising sun trail also returns to the parking lot and has beautiful views of the ocean and canyon along the way.
Come see the historic Roberts home ruins along with waterfall next to it. This hike will be full of great views and lots of interesting historical information.
We will meet at the trailhead at 8:45am to begin the hike by 9:00am. Solstice Canyon is one of the most popular spots in the park and parking fills up fast. Plan to arrive earlier than 8:45 to ensure you get a parking spot.
The hike and tour should last around two hours, but there will be plenty of time afterward for any questions!
This is a free event with free parking. We recommend bringing water, sunscreen, and sturdy hiking shoes.
