Join us in celebration of THE ASHTABULA FOUNDATION’S 100TH
ANNIVERSARY to screen ENGINEERING TRAGEDY: THE ASHTABULA
TRAIN DISASTER, a documentary film featuring the history of the Great
American Train Tragedy in Ashtabula on December 29, 1876. Railroad safety,
engineering regulations and the Ashtabula General Hospital (ACMC) and other
improvements resulted from the tragedy.
Len and Patti Brown (Co-Director and Producers) of Beacon Productions, LLC
have been filming on and off since 2018 and are pleased to announce the film will
air on WQLN PBS December 29 at 8:00 p.m., the 146th Anniversary of the train and bridge
disaster.
This event is FREE, a gift to the Ashtabula County Community in celebration of
the Ashtabula Foundation’s 100-year history. Since 1922, the Foundation has
provided many millions of dollars in the form of grants to local, nonprofit
organizations and scholarships to area students! The Foundation is a proud
supporter and major contributor to this film documentary.
The two-hour screening will take place at 1:00 p.m. and again at 5:00 p.m. Ticket
registration is limited to four tickets per email. Space is limited and your ticket is
valid for one showing only. Tickets must be presented at the door for entry.
A 21’ replica of the bridge and train (used in the film) will be on display as well as
several artifacts discovered and unearthed from the crash site.
