17 November, 2022

Description

Now in its fourth year, the Detroit Can Film Festival is an opportunity for young people in Metro Detroit to share their perspectives on socially relevant topics through videos they create. Creative youth ages 13-18 who live in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties submit films no longer than 15 seconds on the festival theme and a panel of judges determines the Grand Prize and Runner Up winners. Audience votes during the event will determine the audience favorite. Our theme for 2022 is "My Scrolling Life". Thanks to our sponsors at Jim Shaffer and Associates Realtors and a private donor, the Grand Prize Winner receives $500, Runner Up receives $150, and the Audience Award Winner receives $150. All winners also receive scholarships to attend programs at Interlochen Center for the Arts. This event is free. We encourage guests who are able to donate to visit https://ymcadetroit.org/give/, click on the pull down menu under "I want to support" and choose Y Arts to support the festival and Y Media Works, our youth media initiative, a program of the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit. Join us at the newly renovated Marlene Boll Theatre for a fun night of very short films to celebrate youth voice and creativity.
