Yes, you can claim that the Bill of Rights was written while under English rule if it makes you feel better. But that same argument can hold up today as well. Are we passing laws because of English dominance? Yes, they were still stinging under a life of King George, and realized that ANY government could become the next tyrant. That's why the Bill of Rights was drafted... to try to avoid that down the road. You're incorrect in saying that "The Supreme Court has already ruled... Yes, and no." The latest Supreme Court ruling is that abortions are not in the US Constitution and that they therefore fall under State's control. You fail to acknowledge that the 1973 decision addressed a woman's rights while completely ignoring the rights of the baby that she's carrying. I love how when the courts make a decision that YOU agree with, it's a ruling. When YOU disagree with the decision, it's from a 'stacked court'. ALL justices are nominated by a president and confirmed by the Senate. Therefore, ALL courts can be considered 'stacked'. Is the last justice appointed a good choice? Or is she a hack whose PRIMARY qualifications are that she's black and a woman? That's hardly a good basis for an impartial justice or a court that's not stacked. The Supreme Court has already ruled that having "a well-armed militia" is not the only basis for the right to bear arms. They've ruled that personal safety is an equal justification. But I'm sure that you won't agree with that decision since (in your mind anyway) it must have been made by a stacked court. Recently, the court has shot down NY laws that infringe on the right to bear arms. YOU fail to understand that the right to bear arms is an unalienable right just as life and liberty. That's why it's written as a right that cannot be infringed upon. The Constitution does not give you that right, it protects it as an unalienable right. Should other decisions from 'stacked courts' also be ignored? The right of a women to vote, or a black, or due process?
