Description
MALIBU, CA — There's still time for young students to submit an entry to the Can the Trash! Clean Beach Poster contest before Sunday's deadline. The campaign is designed to teach kids how trash from anywhere in Los Angeles, even in the San Fernando Valley or East L.A., can end up in the ocean and harm our marine life.
Students between 3rd and 5th grade can submit artwork containing environmental messages about the importance of clean ocean and beaches by Sunday, Jan. 10. Contest winners will have their designs posted on trash barrels around the beach.
Posters must be hand-drawn on a white sheet of paper in landscape orientation, and should be in color. Students may submit more than one entry.
The county will select 15 winners from among the submissions, and the winners' artwork will be displayed on trash barrels across the county's beaches. Last year's winning artwork can be seen online.
More information can be found at beaches.lacounty.gov/postercontest.
