As part of National Apprenticeship Week, The Space Coast Consortium Apprenticeship Program (SCCAP) is hosting a Presentation and Networking Event from 4:00 – 7:30 pm on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at the Eastern Florida State College (EFSC) Cocoa Campus, Building 14 Auditorium. Individuals interested in apprenticeships, including local and regional high school and college students, veterans, parents, community stakeholders, local dignitaries and the press are invited to attend. SCCAP is a registered apprenticeship program with the Florida Department of Education Office of Apprenticeship, offering apprenticeships in Mechatronics, Advanced Machining, Advanced Manufacturing Fiber Composites and in 2023, Advanced Manufacturing Aerospace Welding. The Open House Networking Event includes an exhibit area with SCCAP member companies available to discuss the mission, vision and skilled workforce needed to meet the demands of the advanced manufacturing technology occupations in their organizations. The program includes Keynote Speaker Carolyn MacGowan from Airbus OneWeb Satellites and remarks by FLDOE Chancellor O’Farrell, followed by introductory interviews with sponsor companies looking for dedicated apprentice candidates able to effectively balance the time demands of career, college, and lab courses that make up the SCCAP apprenticeship. These initial sessions are intended to help both students and employers assess the potential fit at respective sponsoring companies.
