Ryan and his team at Friends of MLK have been working diligently to raise funds toward the accomplishment of an extraordinary goal - creation of a multi-use park in the name of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The proposed MLK Park is being designed as a venue for residents and tourists to learn and engage in the region's rich artistic, creative, cultural, and ethnic history. Funds requested for this phase of the project will go directly to the creation of a multi-purpose space with room for remembrance, growth, solitude, gathering, and celebration. This project will serve as a nexus for resilience, while preserving and displaying the history of Davenport as it relates to persons of color. Upon completion, the MLK Park will present a welcoming and inclusive environment for people of all cultures, race, or ethnicities to our region.
