Bishop Mays Inc. is looking to hire an experienced utility crew Excavator Operator. This is a full time position, typically working at Monday-Friday work week. Responsibilities: • Excavate for pipe installation using proper benching and sloping for particular soil classification • Safe and efficient operation of excavator to meet production targets • Must be able to operate excavator safely around other crew members and existing utilities • Must be able to dig on grade for sewer or storm drain installation • Must be able to bed pipe with bedding material • Must be able to set up trench box and work within trench shoring systems • Perform routine inspections, safety walk-arounds, and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment • Observe hand signals, grade stakes, or other markings when operating machines so that work can be performed to specifications • Receive written or oral instructions regarding material movement or excavation • May perform other related duties as assigned and operate various other equipment Requirements: • Good attitude, reliable, and self-motivating to produce results in a safe manner • Proficient skills and experience required; must dig on grade for sewer and storm drain pipe installation • Must have at least two years of experience operating excavator laying water, sewer, and storm drain • Knowledge of civil drawings a plus • Drug-free • Must be 21 years of age or older • Legally eligible to work in the US • Must be accountable for conduct and have excellent attendance • Capable of working at a sustained pace and producing quality work Benefits: • Competitive wages based on experience and qualifications • Health insurance • Vacation pay • Holiday pay • 401K with matching program • Work clothing allowance • Opportunity to grow and move up in the company Work Environment: • Work is performed outside in all types of environmental conditions • Frequently lift 20 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds • Must be able to climb in and out of equipment unassisted • Must be able to stand, walk on uneven surfaces, climb, kneel, bend, twist, and push/pull
