CBS Minnesota January 07, 2021 MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – On Thursday, Augsburg University staff voted to unionize, becoming the first unionized professional staff of a private university in the state. An overwhelming majority – 75% of the 134 professional and clerical employees – voted to form their union with OPEIU Local 12. The campaign focused on the connection between the well-being of staff members and the support they give to students. Amid the pandemic, they have been concerned with recent layoffs, pay cuts, and safety concerns. There have also been long-standing issues surrounding the lack of paid parental leave, racial and gender pay gaps, and increasing work loads without compensation. Read more at CBS Minnesota
