Milwaukee Krampusnacht held its first event in 2017 and the festival has always been about celebrating the Krampus tradition as well as local art, music, performers, and food and drink. It’s a festival open to all ages, and anyone that wants to have a creepy cool time.
Krampus, if you haven’t heard, is a monster of folklore that originates from the Alpine regions of Germany, Austria, and other European regions. Children are told that kindly Saint Nick will visit them on December 5 to give them treats, but if they’ve been bad he will bring his monstrous companion, the terrifying Krampus! Several other countries have similar traditions.
This year the event will be happening on Sunday, December 4, 3-9pm. We are at a new location in the Brewery District spread across venues between 9th and 11th streets on Juneau Avenue. Best Place, On Tap, and Central Waters Brewing will all be participating.
