Frontier Cooperative is seeking a CUSTOM APPLICATOR for our Columbus, NE. As a Custom Applicator, you perform the custom application of fertilizers, herbicides & insecticides with dry and liquid machines. RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following: Recommend and apply various types of agricultural fertilizers & pesticides by operating various farm equipment, machinery, & vehicles. Requires mixing, loading, and application of crop production products/plant nutritionals. Mixes, handles, loads, & delivers bulk and packaged materials, seeds & other ag products; This position requires you to occasionally lift 50 to 100 pounds. Perform daily vehicle inspections; clean and maintain equipment; perform maintenance & calibration on application equipment; assist mechanic & operations departments. Provide support in monitoring inventories of bulk tanks & assist in the physical inventories of agronomy & energy products. Participates in continuing education for maintaining pesticide applicator license & other licenses, as needed. SKILLS NEEDED for SUCCESS in this ROLE: Applicator & Pesticide license is required, or ability to obtain one within a reasonable amount of time. Mechanically inclined with basic knowledge of agricultural pesticides & weed identification. Communication & interpersonal skills including the ability to think clearly & problem solve. The desire to be involved in agriculture & work for a cooperative. Excellent driving record & ability to operate farm equipment & various heavy machinery. Possesses the ability to accurately read field & plat maps. Ability to work without direct supervision & uphold a professional competence to safety. The work environment for this position is that of a typical outdoor setting in all types of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements. When working outdoors and possibly around moving equipment/mechanical parts, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations, and a risk of electrical shock.
