The Oaklandside is a nonprofit local newsroom for and about Oakland. Oaklandside Live is an evening to celebrate The Oaklandside and the hard-hitting journalists who bring Oakland's stories to life.
Join us at Oakstop in uptown Oakland for conversations with Oaklandside reporters as they go behind the scenes on some of our city's biggest stories of the year. You'll review the local elections with our news editor, Darwin BondGraham. Education equity reporter Ashley McBride will dig into school closures. Street safety reporter Jose Fermoso will help you get to grips with one of Oakland's key, systemic issues. East Bay Nosh editor Eve Batey talks to Community Kitchens co-founder Maria Alderete on an innovative approach to food justice in Oakland. And you'll join editor-in-chief Tasneem Raja and the whole team to hear about what the newsroom thinks about reporting in our great city.
And to make it a complete evening, there's food from Mela Bistro, Xingones and Lion Dance Cafe, with beer from Temescal Brewery and wine from Head High Wines (food and drink is included in the admission price!).
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, November 19!
