Description
Dog behavior can seem mysterious to us humans. Some dogs are wild, full of energy, jumping and barking to get our attention, while others are calm, yet resistant to training and come across as somewhat stubborn. Why do some dogs enjoy playful interactions with other dogs and others react negatively to seeing another dog pass by on the street? Why does separation anxiety develop in the first place? What gives with these behaviors? In this FREE 90-minute class, dog behavior specialist Nicole McDermid will unlock these mysteries, and more. We’re sorry, but class is for HUMANS ONLY and space is limited. This will be an information sharing class, not a training session. Expect the following topics to be covered: 🐶 The history of the human-dog relationship. 🐶 The hierarchy of dog needs. 🐶 How dogs acquire new information and learn new behaviors. 🐶 What socialization is (and is not). 🐶 The most effective way to shape our dog’s interactions with us. 🐶 What causes fear and understanding the stress response. 🐶 Techniques for healing from trauma and negative experiences. 🐶 Best practices for training based on what we know about dogs today. 🐶 An opportunity to ask your own questions! Why is this class FREE? Nicole is working on developing new curriculum that will be applied to both in-person classes and a forthcoming video series. The classes will be recorded for her internal use to make improvements. Your participation is greatly appreciated! FAQS 🦴 Please register for ONE CLASS ONLY. Thursday and Saturday classes cover the same material. Class size is LIMITED. 🦴 No dogs please. 🦴 Video or audio recordings will NOT be distributed to students. A handout will be provided, but please bring something to write with if you wish to take notes. 🦴 If you have specific and individual questions regarding your dog’s behavior, please feel free to share during class; however, you may be asked to speak with Nicole privately afterward so that we can keep to the schedule.
