Cooper desperately needs a new home very soon. For 1.5 years I have casually searched with little effort to find a good home for him--I hadn't put much effort into searching because I love him and hoped the situation might improve. Coop doesn't seem happy here and I want what is best for him. He needs a yard to run in or someone to take him for daily walks and I cannot give him either. After the loss of my little girl, I can hardly get out of bed in the morning. He also doesn't get along well with my roommate's younger, bigger high-energy dog and his anxiousness around him has led to some scuffles that I cannot allow to escalate any further--I'm scared either of them will be badly injured. I have posted locally on social media and contacted rescues whom are just as overwhelmed as the shelters. Cooper is a healthy 7.5yo male Louisiana catahoula cur, 45lbs. and neutered. -Crate-trained (his safe space) -House/potty-trained -Knows commands: sit, stay, lie down, shake, speak, eats at count of 3... -Very intelligent, loves to learn and please -Scent-driven (would make for a great hunting partner) -High prey drive (attentive, likes to chase) -Independent (stays aloof like a feline but super cuddly when called, loves being under blankets and has always lived indoors) -Possibly best suited in an animal-free home (raised around many other dogs but prefers to be left alone, has only ever had a scuffle with roommate's younger hyper male; also raised around/played with cats but likes to chase) -Never been around small children and seems frightened of them on walks -Very particular with whom he'll trust and must be given time to acclimate to new people, but incredibly loyal once he's yours Rehoming fee is negotiable.
