Description
I have 3 laughing chicken roosters. 5 months old. Already crowing. Rehoming fee of $75 each. Ayam Ketawa, also named the Laughing Chicken, is a rare breed of chicken originating from Indonesia. The breed is prized for its crow, which has an uncanny likeness to the human laugh, and can last as long as 15 seconds or longer. The color patterns of these birds vary greatly, as they have been bred for their crow, not their colors.
Originally owned strictly by the Buginese royal family, Ayam Ketawa birds were viewed as a symbol of courage, social status, and heroism. However, since the fall of the Monarchy, the Ayam Ketawa have now been made available to the general public. It wasn’t until 2019 that the Ayam Ketawa breed arrived in the United States, but its popularity is growing very quickly. It’s “laugh” is quirky and fun sounding, and is sure to be a great conversation piece for their owners, and an extremely unique addition to the coop.
