Start: Anglers Parking, 10790 MacArthur Blvd, Potomac MD
Finish: Anglers Parking, 10790 MacArthur Blvd, Potomac MD
Distance: 10 - 24 miles
End Time: Depends on how many miles you choose to do.
Coordinators: Katey Lazarchik, Sarah Abedin
The start of the walk is across from the Old Angler's Inn, where there is plenty of parking and a public restroom. From there, we will walk 12 miles downstream to historic Georgetown, and return along the same route.
The route is lined with historic canal locks, restored lock keeper cottages, wildlife and awesome views of the Potomac River.
For those of you who want to walk a shorter distance, the turnaround will be at Lock 7, for a 10-mile walk.
After the walk, we will gather over at the Old Anglers Beer/Pizza Garden to refuel and celebrate!
If you are training to do the Kennedy50 this is a great opportunity to meet others who are doing it as well.
If you are new to long-distance walking, this is a good one to start with as you can do as little or as much as you choose. No pressure.
The event is free and open to everyone, but we do encourage optional donations in support of FreeWalkers. This walk is organized by the volunteers of FreeWalkers.org, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
