These days when we see "Distilled in Indiana" on a label we're programmed to think "sourced whiskey". That's not the case at Spirits of French Lick. Alan Bishop is both a distiller and historian who operates the largest pot-still distillery in the state of Indiana. He creates pre-prohibition style products and distills them in a method consistent with their historical counterparts. Alan has spent 19 years of his life working through the art and science of distillation and expanding his knowledge at every step. He continues to educate himself on innovations in the industry, but also enjoys discovering and preserving the rich distilling history of Indiana. Alan is deeply passionate about the connection forged between agriculture and distillation. As the product of a life spent on a family owned farm and in the profession of plant breeding, Alan is deeply committed to fully exploring the history and future of distilling in Indiana. In keeping with his passion for history, many of his distilled products are named for outlaws and other historical figures. Some of the products we may be tasting include Lee Sinclair bourbon, William Dalton bourbon, Solomon Scott rye, and an apple brandy. The tasting will be held at the Bonnycastle Club, an exclusive members-only club established over 100 years ago in the heart of the Highlands of Louisville.
