pitching
Pitchers can use both front and side pitching positions. Touch the pitcher's board with your foot before throwing the ball. A head-on pitch can only be thrown to the batter. After the pitching motion begins, the motion must be continuous without interruption. A side throw can be thrown to the base with a runner on, but only to the batter once the pitch has begun. You must hold the ball in a stationary position in front of you for at least one second before throwing the ball.
A pitch that violates the rules of pitching is called an "illegal pitch" and a "bad pitch" is awarded to the pitcher. When there is a runner on base, a "pitcher's foul" is called, and the runner must safely advance to 1 base.
