As we embark on our mission to "Fight To End Poverty," as an organization, we are taking out time to answer the question what does it mean to be a poverty fighter?
As the largest poverty-fighting agency in the Central Valley, and one of the largest community action agencies in the country, we understand that the task of fighting poverty is a large undertaking. Throughout the day we will have various learning sessions to ensure that we all have the knowledge and tools to work together to see our vision - a strong Fresno County where people have resources to shape their future free from poverty." We will also present our new Strategic Plan - the organization's three year commitment of work to our staff and our community.
Each participant will be able to choose three sessions in the afternoon around topics related to being a poverty fighter and the work of Fresno EOC. While there is so much to learn about being a poverty fighter and a change agent, it's also important that we remember that in order to give into the community, we must give into ourselves as well. Therefore, one of your three selections should include an activity that is fun and engaging, the other two selections should be learning/educational.
(Fun/Recreational: Zumba, Painting, Salsa, Yoga , Vendors)
To ensure equity in our selections, please select only one choice from each breakout session.
***Please note that if you choose more than one recreational activity, you will be reassigned to another session based on availability.***
There will also be local vendors on site - being a poverty fighter also means investing in small community business!
