Press release from Lakeland Community College: January 7, 2021 By: Jessica Novak A grant dedicated for cybersecurity scholarships has now been expanded to include new students in all information technology and computer science (IT & CS) programs at Lakeland Community College. The college was awarded a Choose Ohio First grant in December 2019 to specifically support cybersecurity at Lakeland. However, due to the increasing demand for IT & CS professionals, the grant has been expanded to include all IT & CS programs at Lakeland. To be considered for the scholarship, students must be new to Lakeland (including transfer students) majoring in an IT & CS degree program or certificate and have/maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. Lakeland's Choose Ohio First IT&CS scholarship is a merit-based scholarship that will award a minimum $1,500 per student, per year. New students pursuing the following degrees and/or certificates are encouraged to apply for the scholarship: • Application Programming and Development• Computer Science/Software Engineering• Cybersecurity• Data Analytics• IT Support Analyst• Operating Systems/Networking• Web Content Developer• ATS – Computer Technology• Computer User, IT Foundations, IT Specialist and IT Professional Certificates To apply, students must log in to their myLakeland account and follow the prompts for the scholarship link.
