Description
This isn’t just your typical goal-setting workshop. This is leveraging everything, invoking ALL the gurus. Brian Tracy said, “All successful men and women are big dreamers. They imagine what their future could be, ideal in every respect…” What if you can’t imagine it in every respect? What if there is resistance to feeling that big dream, that audacious goal? This workshop is for you. This can break that barrier of imagination. This can give you that crystal clear image, the emotional connection to that dream. Most gurus ask us to set a goal. Write it down. That’s good and should be done. Then they say to picture it – in your head or to make a vision board. The problem with just listing the goal or just creating a vision board is that its quick. It’s once. It takes a lot to compete with all the other distractions in our lives to sit down and look at words or look at a picture and get where they say we need to go. The gurus say to really make it stick we also need to FEEL it. Taste it. Engage the senses. Develop faith. If just reading over words or just looking at a picture gets you there, that is great. That is certainly a talent I admire in you. For the rest of us, it’s not always that easy. It hasn’t been for me. I needed more. I think I found it and I want to share it with you. Just listing a goal or just putting a pretty picture on a board certainly lets you see things that you can find pictures of, but for me that wasn’t enough. For one, the image can slip away. It can be let go. There is so much going on around us. Kids. Pets. Phone. Meals. Yard work. That pesky boss… they can all pull on our attention. Yes, there is the option of getting up before everyone else, or staying up after everyone else goes down. I’ve been there, too. The mornings can be fleeting. And sometimes JUST LOOKING at something isn’t quite enough. The vision drifts. It never really anchors in my mind to let me really let it sink in. Sometimes I could. Many times – even as a morning person I struggled. The evenings can be really tough. The will power battery is low. The day has been long. I have those last few tasks that need to be tied up for the day. Or, attempting to get the mind to focus late in the day can lead to that comfortable chair being just a little TOO comfortable. I needed something to truly engage my mind. Truly engage my senses. The gurus say we should feel these goals and aspirations so that our subconscious can work on it. We should do more than just see the boat. We should get so deep that we can smell the salt water spray and feel the tingle of water on our face. We should do more than see a healthy bank account that provides financial freedom. We need to feel the fulfillment at the end of your non-profit board meeting as you casually converse and network with other board members. While the servers you can easily afford clear the catered meal you’ve just provided from the room, you breathe a sigh of contentment knowing that the work you’re doing will contribute to building a better community. It needs to go deep. Napoleon Hill. Tony Robbins. Stephen Covey. Henry David Thoreau. Darren Hardy. Michael Gerber. Hal Elrod. The list just goes on and on of gurus who have written, spoken, and promoted letting that vision contribute to where you want to go by FEELING it. That’s where I want to take you. I offer a method that sinks the feeling of the vision deep in your mind. Engages the senses – sight, sound, smell, touch…. even taste where you want to go. This workshop will use the Original Vision Journal. The Original Vision Journal method is about capturing not only the image, but the feeling of that goal by writing and etching it in. Virginia Berninger, a professor emerita of education at the University of Washington, says the same: “When we write a letter of the alphabet, we form it component stroke, by component stroke, and that process of production involves pathways in the brain that go near or through parts that manage emotion.” If you can do all that by looking at a picture. This is not for you. This is for the rest of us. This is for those who want to feel that goal deeply. This is for those that want a better shield to the distractions. Or for those who just looking at the picture or just reading the words isn’t enough. This is also for those who are shooting for the moon. This is also for those who have a goal so big, you just can’t wrap your imagination around it. If you have a goal that is such a monstrous change, Jim Collins calls them BHAGs (Big Hairy Audacious Goals), that you need help getting there. This can help. To list these types of goals is not doing your goals justice. These are at our core and yet, challenge us the most. They challenge our belief. They challenge our faith. This will take a little work. This isn’t someone talking for 2 hours. This is a workshop. You’ll be thinking, producing, and creating on paper. Bring your favorite pen. Bring your favorite journal. Bring thoughtfulness. Bring patience. This is building the foundation of your aspirations. Come clarify your goals. Crystalize your vision. Evoke your future. Take your goal realization to the next level. *** Schedule *** 8:30am Arrive/Network 9:00am Workshop 10:00am Break 10:15am Workshop 11:00am Close
